Share your views on the Acute Home Visiting Service
NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) would like to hear from people living in Ashfield, Mansfield, Newark and Sherwood who have recently accessed a same-day home visit after contacting their GP.
What is the Acute Home Visiting Service?
The Acute Home Visiting Service is for patients who need to be seen in their own home/care home. When patients contact their GP requesting a same day home visit, the GP’s can choose to refer on to the Acute Home Visiting Service and a dedicated team of Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANP’s) and Emergency Care Practitioners (ECP’s) will visit patients in their own home or care home.
This service is provided by Primary Integrated Community Services (PICS) and has been delivered across 39 practices in Mid Nottinghamshire, covering practices in Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark and Sherwood for four years.
The aim of the service is to reduce unnecessary hospital admissions and enable patients to be cared for at home when it is clinically safe to do so. The service supports GPs to manage urgent care needs and enables them to focus on other priorities in Primary Care.
The CCG are now reviewing this service and would like to hear from people who have accessed a same-day home visit following contact with their GP in Ashfield, Mansfield, Newark and Sherwood.
We would also like to hear from their carers to understand your views and experiences of the Acute Home Visiting Service. This is separate to any evaluation you may have already completed, and your feedback will be used to inform a review of the current service.
Colleagues within primary care across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, including Bassetlaw, are also invited to share their views to inform this review.

Interpretation and Translation Services
NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group would like to hear from patients, patient representatives and GP Practice staff who have accessed or are likely to access Interpretation and Translation Services because the citizens first language is not English. The feedback provided will be used to inform the specification of a new service from December 2022.
Background:
The NHS has a statutory obligation under the Equality Act 2010 to provide access to interpreting services. Providing high quality interpretation and translation services is an important part of ensuring that patients receive the right care, with informed consent, and have improved health outcomes. Within Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG there is an historic inequity to interpretation and translation services accessed via GP practices between Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County which we are trying to address as part of the latest review.
In Spring 2021 the CCG conducted a review of interpretation and translation services which looked at the current commissioned services and the needs of the population. It also looked at how potential changes to services would impact on patients. Feedback was gathered through two engagement events as well as an Equality & Quality Impact Assessment (EQIA).
This further period of engagement is scheduled to more deeply understand what patients and patient groups deem to be their priorities and their views on application of criteria when accessing interpretation and translation services.
About the service:
- Nottingham City GP practices – since 2017 access to Interpretation and Translation services has been via Nottingham CityCare Partnership. This service was commissioned by the former Nottingham City Clinical Commissioning Group based on the needs of their patient population and includes:-
- face to face interpreters
- telephone/remote interpretation
- medical document translation available at a cost to the practice / patient.
- Nottinghamshire County GP practices – service available via Language Line Solutions Ltd commissioned by NHS England and includes:-
- Telephone / interpreters
- medical document translation

Reshaping Health Services in Nottinghamshire – Tomorrow’s NUH March 2022
Aim: Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is launching its next phase of public engagement on proposals to transform hospital services in Nottingham, collectively called Tomorrow’s NUH (TNUH).
TNUH is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to transform the hospital services and facilities run by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH). It is part of the Government’s New Hospital Programme, which is investing in buildings and equipment across the NHS, to ensure our healthcare system and staff have the facilities they need for the future.
It also is a significant part of Reshaping Health Services in Nottinghamshire (RHSN), a long-term strategy involving all local health and care organisations working together, ensuring that we continue to provide leading edge, innovative and life-changing care well into the future.
This phase of engagement has now concluded. To access a copy of the engagement report, please click here.

Reshaping Health Services in Nottinghamshire – November/December 2020
Reshaping Health Services in Nottinghamshire.
Aim: Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is launching a two-month phase of public engagement on proposals to transform hospital services in Nottingham.
These proposals are part of what we are calling the Reshaping Health Services in Nottinghamshire Programme (RHSN). This plan aims to secure Government funding to invest in our local hospital services so that they are better set up to meet people’s needs and improve people’s health and wellbeing.
The part of our plan that we are talking to the public about is called Tomorrow’s NUH (TNUH), focused in services provided by Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) NHS Trust. This involves all the health and care organisations in our area working together to create hospital services that meet the needs of local people now and in the future.
We will be launching a public survey and holding a programme of virtual public events to enable people to have their say. We will share details of opportunities to get involved here on our website.
Have your say to shape the Long COVID Pathway
Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG would like to hear from citizens and carers who have accessed Long COVID Assessment Clinics (also known as the Post COVID Syndrome Assessment Clinics) to gather their views and help to improve the Long COVID pathway going forwards.
Background:
Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG received funding to develop Long COVID Assessment Clinics in response to NHS England’s 5-point plan for Long COVID support.
Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and CityCare Partnership launched the pilot clinics in March 2021 to provide holistic assessments for people with multiple and ongoing symptoms 12 weeks after a COVID infection.
About the clinics:
Once GPs have exhausted options for care including self-management, they are able to make an e-referral into the assessment clinic for patients with multiple new and ongoing symptoms that require a full assessment and specialist Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) approach.
The assessment clinics have complemented existing community, mental health and secondary care services and pathways by offering comprehensive physical, cognitive and psychological assessments and specialist MDTs. Existing mental, community and secondary care services have continued to provide treatment for individual symptoms, the clinics and MDT have offered a more co-ordinated approach where there are multiple symptoms.
Now the clinics have been up and running since March, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG will be looking to develop an integrated Long COVID pathway to complement the existing clinics and ensure patients have access to both assessment and treatment.
NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG sought to hear from citizens and their carers who have accessed the clinics to gather their views and understand experiences of the assessment clinic and treatment pathway. To understand what has worked well and what, if any, changes might improve patient experience. This will help to shape the Long COVID pathway going forward.

Children and Young People’s Mental Health Local Transformation Plan and Vision and Values
The local NHS in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire would like your help to understand parents and carers views on future plans for children and young people’s mental health in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
Background
A Local Transformation Plan for Children and Young People’s Mental Health will be published on the NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) website on 30th September 2021.
The plan will set out how local services will invest resources to improve children and young people’s mental health across the “whole system”. All local areas are asked to refresh and update these documents and each year the CCG updates the document on our website.
As part of this process, the CCG would like to engage with parents and carers in the community to understand their views and take their advice on key messages. Once we have these views we will create a more accessible public facing document.
How you can help
We need the public’s help to create a more concise public facing version of the plan which will be co-produced with children and young people and parents and carers.
The CCG will be running a series of virtual workshops for parents and carers to share their views.
Participate in one of two virtual workshops taking place on:
Friday 17 September, 1pm to 2pm.
Wednesday 22 September 6pm to 7pm
To register your interest in attending a virtual workshop, please click here.
We are also keen to talk to any groups for parents and carers who are interested in sharing their views and would like to hear more about the work that we are doing. If you are currently meeting either virtually or in a community setting then please do contact the Engagement Team via nnccg.team.engagement@nhs.net or call or text 07818580719 in order that we can arrange to attend before 1st October 2021.
*All engagement will end on Friday 1st October 2021.
A copy of the accessible public facing document will be shared on the CCG website and the Integrated Care System website.

Have your Say on NHS Psychological Therapies in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire
Have your Say on NHS Psychological Therapies in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group want to ensure that everyone over the age of 18 who experiences low mood, anxiousness or stress is able to access appropriate, effective support should they need it, without having to go to their GP first. We are therefore looking for patients and the public to share their thoughts and experiences of accessing NHS psychological therapies, also known as talking therapies or IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapy) services, in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. This will help us to understand how to increase awareness of these free NHS services and any issues that people may experience in accessing them.
We are asking patients, members of the public, carers to take part in a quick and easy survey. The survey will take no more than 10 minutes of your time. You can access a copy of the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/G2V79HV. The survey will run from Tuesday 24 November 2020 and will close at midnight on the 8 December 2020.
If for whatever reason, you cannot complete this survey or would like to take part in a phone interview instead, kindly contact Katie Swinburn at Katie.swinburn@nhs.net to arrange a mutually convenient time and date to take part.
We will also be arranging for some virtual focus groups to take place in the very near future. If this is something that you would be interested in participating in then please contact Katie Swinburn on the above email address who will register your interest and keep you up to date.
Help Us Help You – Mental Health is a two-month campaign aiming at increasing awareness of NHS talking therapies services (IAPT). It will encourage adults with mental health issues to seek help and consider accessing NHS talking therapy via their GP or through self-referral. It will have a specific focus on BAME groups and people struggling with unemployment. We have various materials available that we can provide you with to support this campaign. Please do let me know and I am of course happy to send these to you. An example is attached which you may find useful here.
Please feel free to cascade this information to your communities and networks.
Have your say on a new holistic, healthy lifestyle service for children and young people
NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) would like to thank you for sharing your views to help to inform the creation of a new holistic, healthy lifestyle service for children and young people who are significantly above a healthy weight without having other health issues.
Karon Foulkes, Deputy Head of Children’s Commissioning said
“This is the start of the journey to design a new service for children and young people. Where could be a better place to start than those with lived experience and the practitioners who work with them?
“I would like to give my thanks to those who gave up their precious time to get in contact, encouraged parents or young people to take part, for the young people, parents, carers and practitioners who took part in groups and all who filled in forms or surveys. Your ideas and feedback have provided a rich mix to add into the design of what happens next. Our ambition is for this approach to continue through a process of co-design, delivery and review. All are welcome to continue this journey with us – just get in touch”.
Background
As part of the engagement conducted from July 2021 to August 2021, we listened to the views and experiences of children and young people up to the age of 18, their parents and carers and frontline professionals with experience of weight management services.
The information will also be used by Nottingham University Hospital as they prepare to become a regional hub for children and young people for the treatment of complications related to excess weight (CEW).
What is currently available?
Services are available through the local authorities for children and young people who require mild to moderate weight management support. Children who are significantly above a healthy weight with other related health issues are seen by the relevant service in the hospital department relating to their other healthcare issues e.g. diabetes.
This means there is a gap in services to support children and young people who are significantly above a healthy weight without other healthcare issues. The CCG is looking to fill this gap by developing a service for children and young people needing support at this stage.
How you got involved
Children and young people (up to the age of 18) got involved via:
- An online survey which was also made available in paper format.
- Engaging in a mini interview with current weight management services.
- Engaging in discussions through existing groups they attend such as youth forums and community and voluntary groups.
The opportunity to participate in telephone interviews were also made available to young people.
Parents and carers got involved via:
- An online survey which was also made available in paper format.
- Engaging in a virtual focus group hosted by the CCG.
- Engaging in discussions through existing groups they attend such as community and voluntary groups.
The opportunity to participate in telephone interviews were also made available to parents and carers.
Professionals who have experience of supporting children and young people with weight management got involved via:
- An online survey
- Engaging in a virtual focus group hosted by the CCG.
A copy of the final report can be accessed here.
If you need any more information, please get in touch with the Engagement Team and to request this information in another language or format please contact the Engagement Team at: nnccg.team.engagement@nhs.net or call or text 07818580719. If texting or leaving a message please provide your contact details and a member of the team will get back to you.

- Why has Rise Park Surgery taken over the running of Queens Bower Surgery temporarily?
The GP operating from Queens Bower Surgery notified NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) that he would no longer provide General Practice (GP) services at the surgery from 4 December 2020.
The CCG is the organisation responsible for planning and paying for healthcare in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. The CCG had a responsibility to make sure GP services continued to be available to those patients registered at Queens Bower Surgery. This led to the CCG putting in place arrangements for Rise Park Surgery to run the surgery temporarily.
All registered patients were sent a letter explaining the changes in December 2020. Information was also provided about how to register at an alternative practice if this was the patients’ choice.
- Current arrangements are temporary so what happens next?
With temporary arrangements in place to 30 September 2021, the CCG is now looking at how services can be provided over the longer term. There are many things the CCG has to take into consideration, one of which is to have a clear understanding of the impact any change to the way services are provided would have on those patients currently registered with Queens Bower Surgery.
So far, a number of options have been put forward as follows;

Consultation on an NHS Rehabilitation Centre – part of the vision for a National Rehabilitation Centre in the East Midlands
Consultation on an NHS Rehabilitation Centre – part of the vision for a National Rehabilitation Centre in the East Midlands.
Aim: Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG has launched an eight-week consultation on the opportunity presented to open an NHS Rehabilitation Centre in the East Midlands.
Currently, specialist rehabilitation services are delivered from hospitals across the region, with neurological rehabilitation provided at Linden Lodge at the City Hospital in Nottingham.
Central Government has provided £70m to build an NHS Rehabilitation Centre (NHSRC) for NHS inpatients on the same site as the Defence and Medical Rehabilitation Centre.
A new centre will increase bed capacity in the region and provide NHS patients with access to a skilled team of experts working in a purpose-built facility with access to the latest technology and equipment – all under one roof.
Patients would continue to access outpatient appointments and rehabilitation services in local hospitals throughout the East Midlands.
Timeline: The consultation ran from 27 July to 18 September 2020.

Aim: The CCG commissions services to provide early support and intervention for mental health and emotional wellbeing to children and young people. Commissioners are now looking to understand the views of the community and improve this pathway. We would like to gain the views of young people, parents, carers and professionals to understand experiences and report on what support has been like at the early intervention stage.

Listening and Learning about your experiences of changes to healthcare services in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire during the pandemic.
