The vaccination programme in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire has significantly accelerated with the opening of the Mansfield Vaccination Centre and the Forest Recreation Ground site in the last week.
The programme has also expanded to include over 70s and clinically extremely vulnerable people as the county makes significant progress is vaccinating the top four priority groups in line with JCVI guidance.
Latest figures, as of 28 January, show 37,140 over 80s have had the vaccine (74.6%). In total, 84,336 vaccines have been administered to the top four priority groups across the city and county.
The vaccine is administered across three different types of site: Hospital Hubs, Local Vaccination Services and large Vaccination Centres. In total, we have 11 sites offering the vaccine.
Hospital Hubs: We have two sites, Queen’s Medical Centre, King’s Mill Hospital.
Local Vaccination Services: We now have seven sites live, these sites are:
Vaccination Centres: On Monday, Mansfield Vaccination Centre officially went live. You can read more about the site here.
One of the JCVI priority cohorts is frontline health and care workers and to make vaccinating this cohort as convenient as possible we have created a dedicated staff Local Vaccination Service at the Cripps Medical Centre on University Park.
Amanda Sullivan, Accountable Officer for NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group said: “It’s fantastic that we have a large scale Vaccination Centre available for the people of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. We’ll be vaccinating as many people as possible in the days, weeks and months ahead.
“In the last week, we have made exceptional progress in vaccinating nearly all older persons care homes and the few that haven’t been vaccinated have been due to clinical reasons. A large number of GP practices supported this collaborative work to vaccinate and protect our most vulnerable as quickly as possible and we are hugely grateful for their work to assist with the programme.
“Our teams have been working hard to carry out this programme at great pace and we are grateful for the public’s patience and support. We are making significant headway in vaccinating our communities and I would urge the public to make sure you respond to your invitation in a timely way. Please encourage your friends and relatives to have the vaccine if they haven’t already.”
