Residents in the Eastwood area who are eligible for a Covid-19 vaccine are being invited to have their vaccination at Church Walk Surgery at the end of this week.
Any residents over the age of 70 or classed as Clinically Extremely Vulnerable who are registered at Eastwood Primary Care Centre, Giltbrook Surgery, Hama Medical Centre or Newthorpe Medical Centre, can receive their vaccine at Church Walk Surgery (also known as the Church Walk site) on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 February.
Practices have begun contacting eligible residents to invite them in for vaccination.
The surgery is delivering vaccinations to help support those who are at highest risk of Covid-19 and as part of the biggest immunisation programme in health service history.
Residents must have a booked appointment to receive a Covid-19 vaccine and are asked not to just turn up at the surgery.
Any residents who already have an existing Covid-19 vaccine appointment at a different local vaccination service or at the Mansfield Vaccination Centre are asked to keep their appointment and not cancel it.
To book an appointment, eligible residents should call their own GP practice on the usual number.
Any eligible patients who receive their first Covid-19 vaccination at the Church Walk site this Friday or Saturday will receive their second vaccination at the site again within 12 weeks.
If you already have your second Covid-19 vaccination appointment booked, you must keep this appointment at the location and time you have been given. You cannot get your second Covid-19 vaccination at the Church Walk site if you have had your first vaccination elsewhere.
Dr Nicole Atkinson, Clinical Lead for South Nottinghamshire Integrated Care Partnership and GP at Eastwood Primary Care Centre, said: “This is a really exciting step in the roll out of the vaccination programme locally as Church Walk Surgery becomes one of the first GP surgeries to offer vaccination to its residents.
“I would urge anyone in the Eastwood area who fits the criteria and has not yet been vaccinated to take up this opportunity and get vaccinated as soon as possible.
“I would also like to thank all of the staff across the practices for their hard work in getting the surgery ready to deliver vaccinations.”
Anita Smith, Practice Manager at Church Walk Surgery, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer some residents of the Eastwood area a chance to get vaccinated at the surgery this Friday and Saturday.
“It’s really important those who are most vulnerable in our community receive their vaccinations to help protect them against Covid-19. We are pleased to be playing a part in the local roll out of the programme.
“We would kindly ask that residents do not just turn up to the surgery if they are not eligible for vaccination or if they haven’t got a booked appointment.”
