Thousands of people have now received their first COVID-19 vaccination across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire thanks to the tireless dedication of the teams delivering the biggest immunisation programme in health service history.
Frontline health and care staff, volunteers and community teams are making sure all those over 70 or classed as clinically extremely vulnerable have been offered the vaccine.
Over the weekend, GP practices in the county opened their doors as part of a pop-up clinic to vaccinate people over the age of 70 or classed as Clinically Extremely Vulnerable, in line with JCVI guidance.
Church Walk Surgery in the Eastwood area saw almost 2,000 patients vaccinated over the weekend. Large numbers of vaccinations were also given to eligible residents at Middleton Lodge Surgery in Ollerton and Portland College.
Amanda Sullivan, Accountable Officer for NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group said: “The progress being made by the teams on the ground is incredible and we are grateful to them all for continuing to do such a great job.
“It’s really important those who are most vulnerable in our community receive their vaccinations to help protect them against Covid-19.
“If you are over 70 and haven’t booked please use the local booking site or call 0115 883 4640 between 9am – 5pm. Or call 119 to book an appointment at the Mansfield Vaccination Centre. ”
Health and care teams are working together to make sure people in all communities across the city and county are getting the vaccine.
City and county council teams are calling people not yet booked in for their vaccine to help and support them get their jab. A helpful guide to support people to book and understand what is available is here.
This week, GP practices in Ashfield, Newark and Nottingham City are contacting eligible patients who are most vulnerable to receive their vaccinations as part of further pop-up clinics, to help protect them against Covid-19.
Ms Sullivan added: “I would urge anyone over 70 who has not yet received their vaccination to book in as soon as possible. There are lots of different places across the city and county to book your appointment. Equally if you know someone eligible for vaccination, please do help them to book in.
“In line with JCVI guidance, we will now slowly start to open up the local vaccination sites to the next cohort – over 65s. Text messages and letters inviting those over 65 to have their vaccine will begin to go out and anyone eligible can also book via the local booking site or by calling 0115 883 4640.
Please note: If you are over 65, you do not need to wait for your letter to book your Covid-19 vaccination appointment. Book via the local booking site or call 0115 883 4640 between 9am – 5pm. Or call 119 to book an appointment at the Mansfield Vaccination Centre.
