Patients and staff in Netherfield will benefit from a fantastic new healthcare facility as Trentside Medical Group moves into its new, state-of-the-art surgery.
The surgery on Meadow Road brings modern and spacious healthcare facilities to the town, just metres away from their previous building.
The practice had outgrown its old building and without enough space, the team struggled to expand the range of services they could offer to patients.
The new premises will include additional consulting rooms and a pharmacy in a flexible, highly efficient building capable of expanding further to help meet long-term demand.
Developed and funded by primary care premises specialists Assura and delivered by Key Construction, the building includes a number of welcoming features including a light and airy waiting room with an innovative children’s waiting area and a telehealth surgery pod to give patients the ability to manage their health when it suits them.
Caitriona Kennedy, GP at Trentside Medical Group, said: “We are delighted to be moving into this stunning new building which has been created by ourselves Assura and NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG.
“This new surgery shows commitment to the Netherfield community and will bring welcome footfall into the heart of the town and its small businesses. The patient experience will be immeasurably improved, and we look forward to serving our existing patients and the new communities developing in Teale Close and other residential developments.
“We are lucky enough to have some Health education space which we will look into using to host new ways for our multidisciplinary team to work with our patients.
“Sadly, the COVID situation will continue to require telephone triage and appointments will remain mainly by telephone, video link and email for now. All patients should now attend wearing their own face coverings. We hope it will not be long until we are seeing more of our friends face to face.”
The design also incorporates a number of sustainable elements including electric vehicle charging points, photovoltaic panels which generates approximately 17 per cent of heating and electricity.
Dr James Hopkinson, joint clinical leader at NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG, said: “The CCG is delighted to see the Trentside Medical Group move into its new state-of-the-art building. The new GP surgery in Meadow Road, Netherfield brings together excellent facilities and a sustainable design. The building will have more consulting space, a larger waiting room and its own pharmacy on site.
“The additional space will cater for its current patients as well as the growing community in the Netherfield area. Although the new practice is now open, due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, we would still urge patients to call ahead and avoid visiting in person unless the doctor has advised otherwise. You can find more information about how to prepare for a GP appointment at https://nottm-ccg-archive.ginger-root.co.uk/covid-19/gp-appointment-guidance/ .”
Bernard Callinan, Managing Director at Key Construction, added: “The excitement and positivity we witnessed from the Doctors and staff at handover, despite the current circumstances was fantastic to see. The facility will be a great attribute to the community of Netherfield and we’re very proud to have been part of that journey.”
Andrew Cooper, Senior Development Manager at Assura, said: “We’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with the practice and tailoring this fantastic facility to their specific needs. We’re delighted with how the building has turned out and it’s a credit to all those that have been involved in the process.”
