Today marks the launch of Mental Health Awareness Week which runs from 10-16 May.
This year, the theme for the week is ‘nature’ and people across the country will be celebrating the mental health benefits of being around nature in their local community.
If you are concerned about your mental health, or you are worried about the mental health of a relative or someone you care for, the first thing you should do is speak to your GP. They will help you decide what support is needed.
There is also a range of mental health support readily available to residents across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire:
The Nottinghamshire Mental Health Helpline (0300 555 0730) is available 9-11pm seven days a week for anyone who needs emotional support or information about what help is available locally for people struggling with their mental health. Professionals are also welcome to call the helpline for advice on working with patients with mental health issues. A team of supportive mental health workers are on hand to provide information and advice e.g. techniques that people can use to manage anxiety. They will also be able to direct people to other services where needed.
