The only thing constant is change. The world has changed for all of us – for some it has gathered pace whilst for others it has slowed right down.
We have all had to adapt to change and with that comes economic uncertainties, fear of illness, anxiety about unemployment and a longing for our loved ones.
Just like you I have felt the need to add something to my daily routine to maintain my mental sanity through these changes. The psychological sense of completion is satisfying and comforting, particularly during a time when there seems to be no clear light at the end of the tunnel.
I have started practising Surya Namaskar (salutations to Sun god) which is a collection of 12 stretch exercises, here’s a short video. Not sure about you but I lack motivation for exercise hence I have been doing this with my sisters in India over WhatsApp who nudge me if I’m feeling lazy.
I bought this book recently “A Poem for Every Night of the Year” and have started reading only one poem every night – huge sense of achievement on completing that task every night!
And while we have been practising physical distancing it has been a time for emotional connections – linking up with my elderly relatives around the world has been invigorating there are great tips on Digital and Social Inclusion on Connected Nottinghamshire website for all age groups.
It’s ok to not be ok and it’s ok to ask for help.

Be kind to yourself – you cannot pour from an empty cup.
