Our hospitals remain under significant pressure this week as we recorded 749 beds occupied by Covid-19 positive patients. We can all help to reduce these numbers in our hospitals by following the national guidance to stay at home to help stop the spread of the virus. We can all help to reduce the strain on our hospital staff by making sure we choose the right service for our needs – if in doubt use the 111 service.
The vaccination programme in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire is underway and we now have 11 sites offering the life-saving vaccine to the most vulnerable in our community. Letters are being sent out to those in the priority cohorts, please follow the instructions in your invitation letter to make an appointment.
Latest figures:
Dr Andy Haynes, Executive Lead, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System, said: “As of this week we now have 11 sites up and running and rolling out vaccines at pace to the most vulnerable in our communities. We have administered vaccines to 75% of our over 80 population and we are progressing well with vaccinating the 75-79 age group. We are continuing to make headway with vaccinating the top four priority cohorts in line with JCVI guidelines and I am confident we will continue to make further progress in the coming weeks.
“Our hospitals remain under pressure and we have more than 700 beds occupied by Covid-19 patients. The situation will continue to get worse over the next few weeks which is why the vaccination programme is incredibly important. Please support elderly relatives and members of the community in booking appointments – we need to continue to look after each other and follow national guidance in order to reduce our hospital numbers and see a reduction in deaths.
“I would like to thank staff working at our vaccination sites; they are working incredibly long hours to deliver the vaccination programme to our communities. NHS staff across the system are also working extremely hard under increased pressure and I would like to share my gratitude for their continued hard work throughout what is a very challenging time.”
