This week has seen our vaccination programme continue to make improvements with 376,660 people now vaccinated in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. At the same time the pressure on our hospitals is continuing to reduce and we now have fewer beds occupied by Covid-19 patients than we did at the April 2020 peak.

Dr John Brewin, Chief Executive, Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Joint Senior Responsible Officer for Covid-19 Vaccine, said: “This week we opened up the local vaccination programme to those aged 55 and over. We are preparing to accelerate our programme in the next few weeks in order to include those receiving their second dose of the vaccine.
“I would urge all those who are eligible to book an appointment and make sure that your friends, family and those you care about are protected too. The next few weeks and months look optimistic as we hope to start returning to normal life but I would urge all those who have not yet taken up the offer of a vaccine to reconsider.
“The picture in our hospitals continues to improve and we have, for the first time since October, seen the number of beds in our hospital fall below the April 2020 peak. This is very positive for our hospital staff but the local NHS system is still under increased pressure so please choose the correct service for your needs and always use 111 online if you are unsure.”
