A new era for local health service commissioning began on 1 April 2020 with the launch of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
The new organisation has been formed from the merger of six CCGs that previously covered the area.
Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG will build on all the existing strengths in the local health system and the pioneering transformation that the predecessor organisations have advanced in recent years.
The role of a commissioning organisation involves deciding what services are needed for the diverse local populations, and ensuring that they are provided.
Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG will work with a number of local health and care organisations to seek to improve local people’s health and wellbeing and improve local services.
The accountable officer for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG is Amanda Sullivan. The joint clinical leaders are Dr Stephen Shortt and Dr James Hopkinson.
Prior to 1 April 2020 there were six CCG organisations in the city and county: Mansfield and Ashfield CCG, Newark and Sherwood CCG, Nottingham City CCG, Nottingham North and East CCG, Nottingham West CCG and Rushcliffe CCG.
