From today (19 February), additional people who are newly classed as Clinically Extremely Vulnerable (CEV) will receive a letter from the Government advising them to shield until 31 March.
This is because CEV people are at a higher risk of becoming very unwell if they catch Covid-19.
If you receive a letter advising you to shield, this also means that you are being prioritised for a Covid-19 vaccine.
The vaccine is likely to make an important contribution towards protecting you from Covid-19. However, even if you have had both doses of the vaccine, you should continue to follow this shielding guidance as recommended in your shielding letter.
The people you live with should continue to follow the public health rules and guidance as long as they are in place, regardless of whether you or they have received the vaccine.
